Attendance Policy

At Lockport High School, achieving a 90% attendance rate is crucial for student success. We believe that being present is the first step to excelling academically and personally. Our attendance policy is designed to emphasize the importance of consistency and accountability as part of our "ABC" approach—Attendance, Behavior, and Credits.

Key Points of Our Attendance Policy:

  • Attendance Rate: Students must maintain a 90% attendance rate. This standard is essential for staying on track with coursework and participating fully in the school community.

  • Tardies: Being punctual is important. Tardies count as half an absence, regardless of how late a student is. This policy underscores the importance of arriving on time and ready to learn.

  • Excuse Requirements: If a student is absent or late, they must bring an excuse to have it recorded in the system. Excuses must be submitted within a week of the absence. We do not accept excuses beyond this period.

  • Commitment and Responsibility: Consistent attendance is a key indicator of a student’s commitment to their education and their personal responsibility. It reflects the dedication needed to succeed in high school and in life.

By adhering to these guidelines, students will be better prepared to meet the expectations of the "ABCs" and achieve their full potential.
